The owners of an old-fashioned retail meat market and butcher shop in Georgia called Spot Runner to help expand their fair-weather customer base. Sales would peak during the outdoor grilling season, and fall off when cooler weather hit. Their mission was two-fold: remind existing customers of their roasts and winter cuts, while letting the growing community know they’re around. They had tried traditional advertising – newspaper, radio, direct mail and yellow pages – but weren’t sure the results were worth the cost.

Spot Runner showed them how they could reach their highly targeted market for a fraction of the cost of other advertising. But these self-proclaimed “computer un-savvy folks” wondered if they’d be able to navigate the website. No problem. With a little guidance, they were able to create a specialized ad that made their product look “mouthwatering,” which is a good thing when you’re selling fresh meat. But that wasn’t the only objective: “There’s a little bit of sarcasm in the script, so it was important that the actors conveyed that, which they did.”

Now, business is really cooking. “It’s more effective than any other campaign we’ve done.” After a two-week run, first-time walk-in traffic doubled, and sales increased dramatically over last year’s sales. “So… a 35 percent same store sales increase on one-half of the ad budget – not too shabby. We couldn’t have done it without Spot Runner.”
